When you open a curtain, it creates a sense of slow immersion, engulfing the senses. Associated closely with the morning as a ritual action, a time where artificial light is not needed. The relationship between fabric and light creates a association with the ritual action. The light essentially is given curtains that the wider they are opened the brighter the light. The pendant uses a scale which observes the weight distribution and fluctuates the light accordingly. The weight is distributed  more unevenly the wider the curtains are open allowing the weighing scales to inaccurately observe  an increase in weight. The hope is that the pendant will stop us feeling abandoned by the sun and feel the moon is just as bright.

Hio Pendant

allows us to connect natural and electric light by letting fabric associate with the control of light.
